about Ava
I am a queer dance artist living in Boston, Massachusetts. I can be found biking to teach dance classes all over the city, while attending rehearsals and performances as an active dancer and choreographer. This upcoming fall, I will begin working as a paraprofessional in early childhood education. I also hold a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music.
Dance found me through ballet and an early age through ballet. I have since continued to be influenced by its form, but gravitate towards the improvisational, contemporary/post-modern, dance theater realms of movement performance. I make work based on film, the habitual eclectic nature of family, and my experiences of movement as a conduit for communal connection.
I’ve been fortunate to perform works by Aszure Barton, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, and Heather Stewart. My choreographic work has been presented at NACHMO Boston in collaboration with Cassie Wang, Motlee Party WIP, Choreography Project Providence, and aMaSSiT. Additionally, I have choreographed and rehearsal directed Youth America Grand Prix Competition solo and group works.
